The challenge of this project was to use the topography of the site to generate qualitative outdoor and indoor environments on a steep slope facing north. The upper story of the house contains social spaces with large windows overlooking the garden and the tall pine trees. The kitchen is facing the entrance and the terrace, which is an extension of the lower floor of the house. The upper windows of the broken pitched roof takes in the sun from the south and the difference in height gives the interior a diversity of light. The bottom floor contains bedrooms, a common room and washing facilities. The master bedroom and the common room has doors that lead out to the stone terrace. The two exterior staircases connect the house to the different levels of the garden. The materials of the house are chosen to harmonize with the exterior. Iron sulfate treated wood has a beautiful grey tone similar to the bark of the pine trees, and the concrete facade under the terrace reflects the rocky ground.
